Gilbertson Park

This expansive 1,000-acre property stretches along the scenic banks of the Turkey River near Elgin, Iowa. The park features a modern campground with 27 electrical sites and a convenient bathhouse, making it a comfortable home base for your outdoor adventures. Nearly 10 miles of wooded trails invite hikers, non-motorized cyclists, and horseback riders to explore the landscape, and several backpacking sites offer a quiet getaway for those looking to venture a little farther. A paved bike trail also connects the modern campground to the Gilbertson Nature Center for easy access.
Gilbertson’s Park has a separate Equestrian Campground, complete with trail access, eleven hitching posts, trailer parking space, picnic tables, a pit toilet, fire rings, and primitive campsites (no water, electric, or sewer). Campers can access water and firewood at the main campground.
